Restaurant Options close to Gore Mountain and The Alpine Lodge

*denotes Sharon and Greg’s personal favorites- all highly recommended!
Most restaurants have weekly and seasonal variation in their schedules.

North Creek/Johnsburg barVino* is a wine bar with “big wines, small plates” right next door to the lodge with farm-to-table top level cuisine, craft beers and great wine selection. 21+ only! Seating is bar only. Reservations required on Friday & Saturday’s.

Try Beck’s Tavern on Peaceful Valley Road, nice Alpine-influenced menu, great bar, all within a fun, quirky euro ambiance.  Live music on most Saturday’s in their Yurt Bar.  Outdoor stage in the summer time. Cross Country Ski Trails as well!

Marsha’s Family Restaurant is our local diner right next door. Café Sarah* has lite breakfast options and great sandwiches. Try Izzy’s* – a delicious deli and gourmet shop with excellent sandwiches.

Garnet Hill has good casual dinner. The Barking Spider is a great classic bar with good bar food!

Basil and Wick’s* has a nice bar, nice dinner menu and a great après ski selection of appetizers. Stop in at The Inn at Gore Mountain for a drink and enjoy their casual dining.  Chrissy’s Cafe serves excellent breakfast and lunch and is walking distance from the Alpine Lodge.

Chestertown – The Bullhouse* is a great dinner option with nice steaks, chicken, pasta and cool appetizers with a southwestern flair.  They also have a great vegan menu! The Friends Lake Inn (518-494-4751) has a fine dining menu and great wine list in the historic main dining room and they offer a light menu in the Bistro/Winebar. Main St Ice Cream*, is the quintessential luncheon spot but they also serve an additional entrée or 2 in the evening. Be sure to save room for dessert! OP Fredericks has casual fare, burgers and such but also nice pasta, chicken and beef entrees. Good food and a nice bar in a nice casual setting. The Place serves casual Italian dishes. The Panther Mountain House is a great local bar and good burgers and sandwiches- The “P-House” does take out and serves late! The Odd Duck has a good selection of excellently prepared “comfort” food.

Pottersville – Cafe Adirondack* (Thurs-Sun) 518-494-5800 is a BYOB with good food.

Schroon Lake – Sticks and Stones has great wood-fire pizza and other entrees – nice ambiance and fireplaces, inside and outside. Patio seating available.  Pitkins is a great, locally owned old time breakfast and lunch spot.

Olmstedville – The Owl at Twilight (summer only)- great food and wine list- nice atmosphere!

Warrensburg – The Grist Mill (518-623-8005) overlooks the Schroon River and is a very old renovated Grist Mill. It has very good steak and seafood.  Brunetto’s has great food- and a lot of it! Lizzie Keay’s serves lunch and dinner.  New Way Lunch has a great, told time lunch menu.

Bolton Landing – On Lake George has a nice downtown  shopping-restaurant-bar area to park and walk through, there is a plethora of very good dining options; Beyond the Sea is a fantastic restaurant open year round with delicious, fresh seafood and more.  Make sure to try one of their craft cocktails!   Lakeside Lodge Grill -full fine dining menu with lots of options, Fredericks Restaurant  good food, nice variety. Beyond the Sea has an amazing cocktail menu as well as daily featured cocktails.  They’re seafood options are wonderful.  The open air decks/porches at most of these restaurants are nice in the summer. Cate’s Italian Garden– for good Italian. The Chateau on the Lake is fantastic upscale dining (great anniversary spot).

Outside of Bolton is the Algonquin (summer-fall only)- right on the water. Fine dining upstairs and more casual attire in the downstairs.  Great afternoon drink spot in the summer. The Sagamore’s Hotel’s, Club Grill (sorry, closed in the winter) at the golf course and the La Bella Vita the main hotel’s dining room are both good options. Its beautiful to walk around the resorts grounds- its an island on Lake George- you drive over their bridge to get to it.

Lake George – In general Lake George Village does not have any fine dining- a lot of casual fare and t-shirt/trinket shops, miniature golf, etc, etc. Long standing restaurants of note are The Log Jam and Mario’s.
